He who counsels is backed by the power of God because his counsel comes directly from the mind of God.Ħ) The Spirit of Knowledge refers to an intimate knowledge of God and the things of God: Matthew 11: 27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.Įphesians 1: 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.ħ) The Fear of the Lord refers to the holy reverence that we give God as we learn of both his greatness and his goodness: Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.Counsel / Right Judgment - Enables us to discern between right and wrong so that we avoid sin and live as God would want us to live, especially in difficult situations. Counsel means the authority to instruct and give direction.ĥ) The Spirit of Might: (The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace). You can't be a counsellor without having authority over men. The Spirit of Counsel rests on his authority over men. John 2:24-25 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.Ĥ)The Spirit of Counsel: Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Understanding is the explanation of why the actions of a wise man are different than the actions of a fool. It applies to understanding the things of God and man. They are also listed in Isaiah 11:1-2: And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD ġ) The Spirit of the Lord is the Spirit of truth by which we prophesy, preach, proclaim, and teach the word of God: John 3: 34For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.Ģ)The Spirit of Wisdom (1Cor1:30) It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.ģ) Understanding is the fruit of wisdom. These are the very attributes of God which were all around the throne which is a symbol of their all inclusive power. John is describing the presence of the trinity in heaven but here we will focus on his description of the Holy Ghost which he refers to as the Seven Spirits of God around the throne. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Rev 5 :6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. I want to look here at chapter 4 to discuss up some of the imagery used by God pertaining to the appearance of the Holy Spirit before he was manifested in human beings here on earth. John uses imagery to describe much of what he was given because words could not describe all that he saw. If you have a good knowledge of the bible as a whole you will be able to understand the meaning of the imagery in this book. The book of Revelation is so rich in imagery that many people seem to think that it is difficult to understand.
